Our Town Hall apprentices 2019-2021

Seven new starters began their mFutures apprenticeships in autumn 2019, with the design partners as in previous years but now also our management contractor:
Arup, Faithful&Gould, Lendlease, Mace, PlanitIE, Purcell and Ramboll

Jason told us about the process of his application:
"After completing a two year construction based course I wanted further, hands-on experience to learn the skills of the trade practically, rather than from a textbook. Searching online I came across an M-Futures 'Construction Manager' apprenticeship, which looked like it would give me a level of responsibility yet plenty of room for new skills.
During the application process I had to choose between working on heritage or new build; I'd never considered the question before, but had always been intrigued by the remarkable quality of heritage buildings.
Once I'd applied, there was a short but efficient process of practical activity and interviews, with some of the largest and most skilled companies in the industry. It was so efficient in fact, that I'd only just got home when I got the call to say that I'd been accepted!
The next step was to have an induction on site, which included a tour of the building - it was my first time inside The Town Hall, and I was totally astonished by all the great architectural detail.
At the time of writing, I've just completed my first few months of this two year programme. It's safe to say that it didn’t just meet my expectations - it has totally surpassed them. The team has given me plenty of chances to prove the skills I already have, but at the same time offering support, allowing me to gain confidence and grow within the workplace. The work I’m getting to do or support simply would not be available on any other apprenticeship - it's such an honour to have this opportunity."
