Social services Rights of care leavers

Requesting care records

If you are in care or you are being supported by the leaving care service at the moment, and you have questions about your past and/or want to look at your records, your Social Worker or Personal Adviser can help you.

If you don’t have a worker at the moment, you can still ask to see your records.

You’ll need to have the following documents ready to upload:

  • proof of I.D
  • proof of your current address

If you are requesting records on behalf of a care leaver you will also need to provide proof of your identity and evidence of your authority to act as an agent for the person who would like to see their care records.

Request your care records

If you prefer, you can make the request over the phone by calling 0161 234 3654 you’ll still need to provide proof of ID and proof of your current address before we can release any records.

The Care Leavers Association can give you more information on how to access your files and about your legal rights.
