New CCTV Parking Enforcement on Chorlton Cycleway

Parking in cycle lanes is both inconsiderate and dangerous. Vehicles parked illegally in these lanes force cyclists into traffic, increasing the risk of accidents.

Currently, parking rules on the Chorlton Cycleway are enforced by civil enforcement officers on foot. Starting 3 March 2025, we will also use portable enforcement cameras at various points along the route. These cameras will help identify drivers who park in cycle lanes.

What You Need to Know:

  • Penalty Charge Notices (PCNs): If a camera catches you parking or loading in a mandatory cycle lane, you will receive a PCN by post.
  • Fines: The standard fine is £70. Pay within 21 days to reduce it to £35.
  • Appeals: If you think you received a PCN unfairly, you can appeal through the parking fine portal.
  • Driver Responsibility: Always check road signs and markings to understand parking restrictions.
