Newton Heath

Newton Heath

Newton Heath is in the northeast of Manchester. It’s easy to get to by:

  • Oldham Road (A62)
  • Metrolink
  • Bus routes.

What’s happening?

Newton Heath is changing. New homes have already been built, and more are on the way.

To plan for the future, we’re creating a Neighbourhood Development Framework (NDF). This plan will help guide:

  • New buildings
  • Local services
  • Investment in the area.

What people have said

We asked people what they think. Over 600 people shared their views earlier this year. We’re still talking to local groups and businesses.

All this feedback will help shape the final NDF plan.

What the plan includes

The draft plan looks at ways to make Newton Heath better, such as:

  • New, good-quality homes
  • A new public square and better open spaces
  • Improved community buildings, like the library
  • Better health services
  • A more vibrant, more welcoming high street on Old Church Street
  • Improve shops and retail spaces
  • Less traffic at busy times
  • Easier ways to walk and cycle around.
