Wythenshawe
We’re improving Wythenshawe to make it better for everyone - now and in the future. The shopping centre has lots of potential and is easy to get to by bus and tram. We bought the centre in 2022 to deliver investment both in Civic and the surrounding areas.
What the plan includes
We asked local people and businesses what they think. Then we made a plan to guide the changes. This plan covers:
- The Civic Centre
- Wythenshawe Forum Leisure Centre
- Nearby buildings and land
- Car parks.
What are we doing
We want to:
- Bring empty and unused land and buildings back into use
- Create new public spaces for events and a better shopping area
- Build more homes
- Bring in new jobs.
Funding Success
In November 2023, the Government announced £20 million of funding to invest in land and buildings. This money will help us:
- Add a new food hall
- Build better public spaces
- Create workspaces and an enterprise centre
- Open a cultural hub.
Designs are well advanced with works fully starting in 2026.
