Our people and communities theme relates to those that live, study, work and visit here.
The climate change action plan sets out how we'll continue to embed zero carbon in our teams and our work. How we'll inspire and help communities to lower their environmental risk. And to reap the wider economic, social and health benefits of climate action.
This work will mean more people know about and access those wider benefits. Such as better access to clean and reliable travel. Safer and greener places to visit and enjoy. Warmer homes that cost less to run. Better health. And knowledge of how to start or join local projects that support them and their communities.
Our action will:
- continue to upskill our workforce in climate change and action
- help residents to lower their carbon emissions
- enable communities to take climate action
- help education providers to lower emissions and provide climate education
- help grant-funded organisations to lower their emissions
- grow climate awareness and access to training across the city
- equip communities to prepare for and respond to climate risks
- ensure effective systems are in place to protect people in extreme weather
