Moston Lane
Moston Lane is an important local centre with a strong community spirit. Over 130 businesses trade along the high street. There are several schools nearby and an industrial estate to the south. It’s a busy place with high footfall and good bus connections.
The area faces some challenges. The busyness of Moston Lane creates a lot of traffic. The area can feel dominated by cars and unsafe for pedestrians and cyclists. Several vacant sites attract fly-tipping. They create a negative perception of the area for residents and visitors. And many local buildings, some with significant heritage value, need investment.
We created a development framework for Moston Lane to address these challenges. We want Moston Lane to be a vibrant centre. One where people and culture mix in rejuvenated streets and new community spaces.
We consulted the public in 2023 and a final development framework has been approved. Key projects for Moston Lane are:

Improving the quality and management of privately rented homes

Improving the experience of visiting Moston Lane for members of the public

Supporting more sustainable travel around the centre and to green spaces nearby

Improving spaces and facilities for the local community

Improving parking in the centre
There'll be significant investment in three ‘pocket parks’ along Moston Lane in 2024. As well as changes to parking on local roads to improve safety and traffic flow. There was a positive response from residents on plans to create a new public square. And we'll consult local people about the plans when they're ready.
