Wasps

Actual Size 30mm

General information

Wasps can be a nuisance during warmer weather, particularly late summer. And are not regarded as being aggressive. They have a potent sting and can attack in large numbers if disturbed or threatened, if they do sting humans or animals, it's usually due to the fact they have been disturbed in some way. If stung the sting left in situ is irritating and in some cases will cause medical issues.

If you are experiencing high numbers of wasps in your home or garden it is likely that there is a nest nearby. If the location of a nest is likely to put people at risk, then it should be treated immediately by a professional pest controller.

Product information

All the insecticides we use are biodegradable and are of very low toxicity to animals and people. It the nest is close to window or door we do ask that this is not used or opened for 2-3 days wherever possible. This could mean if the nest is close to a neighbour,  semi or terraced house, they also might have to keep their window or door closed, but the technician on the day can advise further once the situation is assessed.

Treatment of Wasps

We can only treat a wasps nest that is located a maximum of 5 meters from the ground, or the gutter height of a roof to a maximum of 5 meters. It is important that you have been able to identify the location of the wasps nest or its entry point prior to our visit.  We no longer treat wasps nests from off ladders due to Health and Safety reasons. The lance we use to dispense the chemicals onto the nest or the nest entry point is operated by the technician from off the ground.
The treatment is quick and very effective. After the treatment there will be a significant amount of activity around the nest for three to four hours. The wasps should be completely eradicated within 48 hours. If the nest is active after this time a revisit can be arranged.

Once the wasps have been eradicated the nest will not be used again. We do not remove the nest as it is made of paper pulp and will not cause any damage.

If you do not know the wasp nest location or entry point please do not book an appointment as we will not be able to carryout a treatment plan.

Safety Information

Keep children and pets away from the insecticide and the treated area(s) and do not allow the insecticide to come into contact with the mouth. If there is contamination or suspected poisoning, follow these instructions:

  • Clothing or soft materials should be cleaned following the manufacturer's instructions;
  • Polished and non-absorbent surfaces should be cleaned as normal;
  • If the insecticide comes into contact with plants, it should not damage them as it is completely biodegradable. If there is contact with edible plants, they should not be eaten;
  • If the insecticidal dust is eaten or gets into the mouth. Wash out the mouth of the affected person with water and keep them still. Do not try to induce vomiting. Get immediate medical advice;
  • If the insecticidal dust is inhaled, move to fresh air and obtain medical advice;
  • Skin contaminated with insecticidal dust should be rinsed with soap and water;
  • If the insecticidal dust gets into eyes, rinse with clean running water for 15 minutes and obtain medical advice; or
