Ukraine sponsorship
Following the Russian invasion of Ukraine in 2022, the UK Government is providing a range of economic, humanitarian and defensive military assistance to Ukraine. Alongside imposing additional sanctions on Russia and Belarus.
Measures include changing the immigration system to support:
- changing the immigration system to support British nationals,
- and their families who usually live in Ukraine,
- Ukrainians in the UK and their families.

In addition, the Government also started a scheme called Homes for Ukraine. This lets people, charities, community groups and businesses in the UK offer a safe home to Ukrainians. This also includes those with no family ties to the UK.
The Council have been supporting the UK Government to implement this scheme in Manchester. We are grateful to our residents for their kindness and generosity in taking Ukrainians into their homes.
We encourage our residents to consider hosting Ukrainians who need this support. If you would like to offer your home to people fleeing the war in Ukraine, you can register your interest via this Government website.
